Video File to Scheduling Process

Once you have become a Seattle Community Media member, there are a few more steps to getting your show on the air.

Make sure the file is in the best MPEG2 format.

We recommend using MPEG Streamclip to extract and encode your file so that is processes easily.  Even if you have a good .mpeg file, it is a good idea to run it through MPEG Streamclip for good measure.  We do this with all of our files.

Use FTP software to upload file to the Ingest server

Generally, video files are too large to send over the internet.  We have an FTP server available for Seattle Community Media members to ingest their files.

Create Episode page

Episode pages are necessary to show information about your show.  It is with these that files are sent to Archive.org for processing and where you can direct your fans to watch and from where you can schedule your show.

Schedule the episode

You can schedule your own episodes to play during any of your timeslots, if you have a guaranteed timeslot.  If you are a new producer, you will have the option to schedule during theme timeslots that match your theme.
