CNN’s chief correspondent Jake Tapper is married to Jennifer Brown, a regional field manager for Planned Parenthood.
The two wed in 2006 after meeting in a hotel bar during the 2004 Iowa caucuses.
Who is CNN correspondent Jake Tapper?
Jake Tapper, 51, is an American journalist for CNN.
He is the chief Washington correspondent for the network and currently anchors his one-hour weekday program, The Lead with Jake Tapper.
Tapper previously served as a Senior White House Correspondent for ABC, where he received three Merriman Smith Memorial Awards from the White House Correspondents’ Association.
Additionally, he has been the host of CNN’s Sunday morning show, State of the Union, since June of 2015.
Who is his wife?
Tapper met Brown, 30, at Hotel Fort Des Moines in Iowa while John Kerry was there campaigning for the caucus.
He was covering the event for Good Morning America at the time and convinced his producer to stop by the hotel to party after Kerry was declared the winner.
Tapper recounted the night to Dartmouth Alumni magazine saying: “It was the day of the caucuses and all the big hitters flew in, so I knew I wasn’t going to go on. So my producer and I went out.
“When [John] Kerry won, we said, ‘Let’s go to the Kerry campaign headquarters, because that’s where the party will be.’ And I walked into the Hotel Fort Des Moines and there was Jennifer,” he added.
Tapper continued: “I saw her and I walked up to her and we went out the next day in D.C. and that was it,” he said.
They tied the knot two years later at The Clubhouse on Baltimore, an event space previously called the Kansas City Club.
Brown described the location to Home & Design magazine saying: “We got married at President Truman’s old men’s club. It felt very East Coast because of the history and the politics.”
Tapper’s sister-in-law, Rabbi Laurie Hahn Tapper, officiated the wedding.
Does he have children?
Tapper and Brown have two children: Alice and Jack Tapper.
Alice is a published author at just 12-years-old of a picture book titled Raise Your Hand.
What did Jake Tapper say about Trump?
Tapper called the president’s campaign “the most negative, sleazy campaign in American history” following the presidential debate against Biden.
He said during the CNN broadcast: “The president, even though he leaned into it a little bit, but he didn’t really go full-bore, which I think was wise, or at least not stupid.
“He is running the single most negative, sleazy campaign in American history for a major party candidate.”
“Now it used to be that people would be negative,” Tapper continued.
The journalist recently criticized Lara Trump, President Trump’s daughter-in-law, for defending the president as he chanted “lock her up” in regards to Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer.
Tapper challenged Lara about the chant claiming that President Trump should have “toned it down” at his rally with the erroneous yelling.
“If there were any Democratic politicians throwing fuel on the fire, I would say tone it down, why don’t you tone it down …Shouldn’t everybody just tone it down, including your father-in-law?” Tapper said.
Lara replied that the president “wasn’t doing anything, I don’t think, to provoke people to threaten this woman at all.”
“He was having fun at a Trump rally,” Lara said.
“And quite frankly, there are bigger issues than this right now for everyday Americans.”
