CALEB Michael Whisnand will be charged with capital murder in connection with the slaying of his five-week-old baby.
The body of the child, also named Caleb, was found on May 12, 2021 – two days after he went missing in Montgomery, Alabama.
Who is Caleb Michael Whisnand and what did he do?
Caleb Michael Whisnand is accused of killing little Caleb “CJ” Whisnand Jr.
Police said during a press conference on May 13 that an autopsy determined “there was evidence that indicated that the proper charge will be capital murder.”
Court documents obtained by WSFA stated the baby’s father “recklessly caused the death of the baby and afterwards buried the victim in a remote area.”
The father and mom Angela Gardner had previously made a public plea for the child’s safe return, according to AL.com.
“She didn’t get to have her son on Mother’s Day or Monday,’’ Angela’s mother Margaret Hope told the news outlet.
“Angela is a great mother, and she is overprotective of her kids. She was so happy when she gave birth.
“I was there when she gave birth to the baby. I can’t believe the SOB killed her baby.”
Little Caleb was found dead in a wooded area.
Hope, the grandmother, told AL.com that Gardner was about to leave Whisnand “and I think that’s the reason he took the baby.”
Whisnand had previously said he had no idea who might have taken his young son.
