BACK in the late 1990s Blues Clues was one of Nickelodeon’s most popular shows.
The children’s program featured Blue, a little dog, and a host trying to solve clues to figure out what the pup had planned for her day.
What happened to Steve Burns from Blue’s Clues?
Steve Burns was the host of Blue’s Clues from 1996 until 2002.
He quit the show in 2000 but episodes with him continued to air two years later.
In 2017 to the Daily Mail, Steve revealed why he decided to call it quits, saying: “Everyone wants there to be a dramatic answer and there’s not.
“It just seemed like time to go… I was just getting older and I kind of occupied this weird older brother space on that show. Like I was sort of an adult, but not really.”
He also said in an interview on a Nick Jr. special that he was losing his hair, adding: “I knew I wasn’t going to be doing children’s television all my life, mostly because I refused to lose my hair on a kid’s TV show, and it was happening… fast.”
However, in September 2021, Steve revealed ANOTHER reason for quitting the show.
Taking to Twitter he said: Burns continued, explaining that he left to pursue higher education: “I just kinda got up and went to college.
“And that was really challenging by the way, but great because I got to use my mind and take a step at a time and now I literally am doing many of the things that I wanted to do.”
Where is Steve from Blue’s Clues now?
Despite Steve’s departure from the show, he consulted on the casting process for the revival of Blue’s Clues, titled Blue’s Clues & You!
For the revival series, Steve helped pick the new host, Joshua Dela Cruz and reprised his role in the premiere episode to help viewers welcome his “cousin” Josh to the show.
He has also written and directed several episodes of the new show.
In late 2016, Steve released a children’s album with Drozd, titled Foreverywhere under the name “STEVENSTEVEN.”
The pair released a video of the album’s first song, The Unicorn and Princess Rainbow.
According to his IMDB page, Steve was featured in an episode of The Funny Cartoons Show in 2021.
Is Blue’s Clues still airing?
Blue’s Clues aired on Nick Jr. for nearly seven years.
It was the longest-running Nick Jr. series until it was surpassed by Dora the Explorer in 2012.
By 2002, Blue’s Clues had received several awards for excellence in children’s programming, educational software, and licensing, and had been nominated for nine Emmy Awards.
It has been syndicated in 120 countries and translated into 15 languages.
Considering its success on the network, a spin-off was created in 2004 titled Blue’s Room.
In March 2018, Nickelodeon announced a reboot of the series titled Blue’s Clues & You!, which premiered the following year in November.
