TWO Italian students who high-fived and hugged each other after raping a helpless drunk woman in a London nightclub have been jailed for seven and a half years each.
Lorenzo Costanzo, 26, and Ferdinando Orlando, 25, were found guilty last month of the vile attack, which took place just six minutes after meeting their victim on the dancefloor.
The woman, 25, was passed between the two men each taking turns in kissing her and then dragged to a maintenance room and raped twice by each leaving her needing surgery.
The vile pair filmed the attack and rearranged her dress before abandoning the victim alone in the toilets and running off.
Holding her limp body up they rearranged her dress and hid her alone in the toilets and ran off after raping her for 16 minutes at the Toy Room Club in Soho.
They were later caught on CCTV celebrating in London’s West End.
Family of the two rapists sobbed as Judge Giles Curtis-Raleigh condemned the attack and the following “triumphalist” show during today’s sentencing at Isleworth Crown Court.
In a victim impact statement, the woman said she the attack left her in “incredible pain” and she could “barely walk”.
She wanted to “vomit” when she heard the men had high-fived each other after raping her.
She said: “When I found out more than one man was involved I felt violently ill with the thought that two men did something this horrible … to me.
“I truly struggle with how two humans could behave like such animals to another person and think of that as funny and like a badge of honour.
“I did not consent to having sex with either or both of these people that night or at any other time.”
At today’s sentencing, Sarah Elliott, QC, defending Orlando, said the two Italian men had a “naive understanding of consent” which was perhaps due to “cultural background”.
She said: “There are very significant differences between Italian young men and their cultural background to those in England.
“The consistent observation has been what a shiningly good, kind, decent young man Orlando was, what a loving supportive good family he came from and how he was a very positive and optimistic young man with high hopes for the future.”

In a statement read out in court, Orlando apologised to his victim “for showing her lack of respect”.
But prosecutor Allison Hunter, QC, said: “She has been diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder and is undergoing intensive therapy for severe psychological harm.
“The injury she sustained caused her to be admitted for emergency surgery and had to stay in hospital for several days.”
HIGH-FIVES AND LAUGHTER
The victim had been celebrating a friend’s birthday in London where she enjoyed a bottomless brunch before heading to the Toy Room where she only remembers having a few drinks on February 25, 2017.
International law student Orlando and masters business management student Costanzo were both found guilty in October of rape at Isleworth Crown Court.
Both men admitted watching their attack back on a mobile phone while making lewd gestures and re-enacting what they had done to the woman.
It was revealed 230mls of blood was drained from a wound between the victim’s legs after the rape.
A doctor reported he had never before seen such an “unusually severe injury”.
The injuries were described by police as “GBH level” which required surgery.
DS Rebecca Woodsford , who has worked for Met Police for almost 17 years, said: “The high fiving and hugging simply shows that what they thought of what they had done, the proud celebratory behaviour really demonstrates exactly how they felt about it.
“I thought it was really shocking footage.”
The students claimed the woman consented to sex but prosecutor Ms Hunter said she was too drunk to agree to what took place on February 25, 2017.
She had been drinking since 11am to celebrate a friend’s birthday and told police she was a “ten out of ten” on a scale of drunkenness after the attack.
The woman said: “I remember being very drunk and falling over a lot and then I was in the toilets of the club in so much pain, not wanting to get out and then I remember being on the street, sitting on the sidewalk.
“I was very swollen, I could barely walk and there was a lot of bruising. I was very scared.”
Doctors also noted three bruises between her legs, bruising to her bum, shoulder and leg, plus a mystery love bite to her neck she had no recollection of.
Christina Smith of the CPS said:”These two rapists have at every turn denied responsibility for their sickening actions.”
