SELENA Gomez has clarified her comments on Amy Schumer’s IVF reveal, sharing with fans that the process is “hard on a women’s heart”.
The singer sent a message to the comedian on Instagram after Amy told fans she and husband Chris were undergoing IVF to give a little brother or sister to their baby boy Gene.
Sharing a photo of her bruised stomach, she said: “A week into IVF and feeling really run down and emotional.”
Asking for advice, the mother-of-one added: “We are freezing my eggs and figuring out what to do to give Gene a sibling.”
In response, Selena, 27, wrote: “I’m praying for you and chris. I’m sorry.”
But after some fans questioned the tone of the comment, Selena, who dropped her second album on Friday to critical acclaim, added: “Let me clear that up. I said I’m sorry she’s feeling that way. My mom went through the same thing. It’s hard on women’s heart.”
Amy, 38, and Chris welcomed their baby boy in March 2019.
They revealed the news on the same day Prince Harry revealed he had become a father for the first time.
Alongside the snap, which sees her cradling the little one as her husband kisses her, she wrote: “10:55 pm last night.
“Our royal baby was born.”
Selena is very close to her mom Mandy Teefey, who also has a six-year-old daughter Gracie, but the pair have had their ups and down.
In early 2018 Mandy told fans that “no one can make Selena do anything she doesn’t want to do” after they called on her to ask Selena to apologise for working with Woody Allen.
“I had a long talk with her about not working with him and it didn’t click. Her team are amazing people,” she shared on Instagram.
“There is no fall person here. No one controls her. She makes all her own decisions. No matter how hard you try to advise. It falls on deaf ears.”
Mandy had also been vocally against Selena rekindling her romance in 2017 with on- and off-boyfriend Justin Bieber, with reports that Mandy had been taken to hospital after a huge row in late 2017.
TMZ reported that police visited her at a LA hotel to do a welfare check, at a family member’s request, and she was reportedly taken to a nearby hospital for voluntary treatment.
Justin is now married to model Hailey Baldwin.
