LEAKED naked photos of Katie Hill have added fuel to a sex saga that has now become a career threat for the US politician.
One of the images appears to show the California congresswoman nude with a “bong” filled with a brown liquid and a questionable tattoo on her midriff.
The images in question were obtained by the DailyMail.com and released Thursday – one day after Hill became the subject of a House ethics investigation into allegations that she bedded two young legislative staffers, one male and one female.
Another image appears to show the 32-year-old congresswoman kissing a female staffer, who has since been identified as 24-year-old Morgan Desjardins.
After the images were released, Hill’s lawyer sent out a cease-and-desist letter to the Daily Mail, demanding it take down the images as this was an “invasion of privacy.”
The tattoo around Hill’s bikini area appeared to resemble that of an Iron Cross, which, according to the Anti-Defamation League, are sometimes used by neo-Nazis as they are similar to a German military medal handed out until the end of World War II.
Use of the cross, however, does not always come with racist connotations, the group added, pointing out that it is also used by likes of bikers, skaters and many extreme sports enthusiasts.
“The claim that Representative Hill has Nazi imagery on her body in the form of a tattoo is false and defamatory,” Hill’s attorneys wrote, according to the Huffington Post.
A RISING STAR
Hill has spent just under a year on Capitol Hill, and during that time she has received plaudits for being an openly bisexual progressive who flipped a region that was previously Republican.
In an unusual move involving a newcomer, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi also named the 32-year-old as her vice chairwoman of the House Oversight and Reform Committee, a panel that is heavily involved in the impeachment inquiry into President Trump.
The recriminations against Hill started last Friday, when RedState, a conservative new site, accused Hill of twice violating House rules against sex with subordinates.
RedState reported that Hill’s estranged husband, Kenny Heslep, who she is divorcing, had posted on a now-deleted Facebook account that Hill had been “sleeping with her [male] finance director for the past year at least.”
Heslep was referring to legislative staffer Graham Kelly, RedState reported, and in another post he apparently wrote, “I didn’t file for divorce bc she was bi!”
Hill denied the affair in a press statement, saying: “Allegations that I have been involved in a relationship with Mr. Kelly are absolutely false.
“I am saddened that the deeply personal matter of my divorce has been brought into public view and the vindictive claims of my ex have now involved the lives and reputations of unrelated parties.”
The Daily Mail and RedState however claimed Heslep appeared to have no issues with Hill’s relationship with Santa Clarita, California resident Desjardins, as he too was a willing participant.
Leaked photos and text messages appear to show what was, for more than a year, a polyamorous three-way relationship between Hill, Heslep and Desjardin, the outlets reported, backing up such claims with images like one that appeared to show Hill brushing Desjardin’s hair while nude.
According to the messages leaked to RedState, Hill called off the relationship in May, four months after she moved to DC.
After RedState broke the story, Hill accused the accounts of being a “smear campaign” against her.
She said: “Intimate photos of me and another individual were published by Republican operatives on the internet without my consent.
“I have notified Capitol Hill police who are investigating the situation.”
Hill added: “The fact is I am going through a divorce from an abusive husband who seems determined to try to humiliate me.
“I am disgusted that my opponents would seek to exploit such a private matter for political gain.”
On Wednesday, the House Ethics Committee said it was investigating the allegations that Hill had a sexual relationship with a member of her congressional staff, which Hill had previously denied.
Lawmakers have come under intense criticism for being slow to update Capitol Hill’s rules on sexual harassment but finally passed an ethics change last year that, among other steps, banned lawmakers from having sexual relationships with staff aides.
The panel noted that it is casting no judgment on the validity of the charges, which were based in the report on anonymous sources.
In a letter to her constituents Wednesday, Hill acknowledged the relationship, writing: “I know that even a consensual relationship with a subordinate is inappropriate, but I still allowed it to happen despite my better judgment.
“For that I apologize. I wish nothing but the best for her and hope everyone respects her privacy in this difficult time.”
The revelations published Thursday gave more ammunition to political rivals who have called for Hill to resign.
Angela Underwood Jacobs, a Republican rival for Hill’s 25th District seat in suburban LA, tweeted: “It could have put our nation at risk due to her heightened potential to be blackmailed.”
Supporters of Hill say that she has become a victim of “revenge porn” – which is illegal under California law.
