Powerball added a third weekly drawing on Mondays this summer.

The first Monday night drawing was on August 23, making tonight the fourth ever.

  • IS THE LOTTERY OPEN TO NON-US CITIZENS?

The lottery is open to non-US citizens, according to Powerball’s website.

Residents of states in which Powerball is not offered are also open to purchase a ticket in a state where it is available.

“Federal and jurisdictional income taxes may apply to any claimed prize money,” the site adds.

  • WHEN DO MEGAMILLIONS DRAWINGS DRAW?

MegaMillions drawings take place on Tuesday’s and Friday’s at 11pm ET.

  • WHAT IS THE ‘EASY PICK’ FUNCTION?

The MegaMillions website offers a random number generator “Easy Pick” option.

Using that option, the site chooses the numbers for you.

  • MORE WAYS TO REMAIN ANNONYMOUS

Experts advise setting up an LLC or trust to make large purchases without revealing your identity.

Getting a lawyer and financial advisor is important in ensuring privacy and managing funds for lottery winners.

Some also wear a disguise to claim their hefty checks and do press conferences, a tactic that is legal depending on the state you reside in.

  • HOW CAN YOU REMAIN ANNONYMOUS AFTER WINNING THE LOTTERY?

There are various ways to remain anonymous to claim a lottery prize.

Buying a lottery ticket in a state that does not require winners to come forward is an effective way to conceal your identity.

Another way is to not tell anyone you scored the jackpot or change much of your lifestyle to avoid having your identity revealed.

Deleting social media accounts, changing phone numbers, and addresses can also be an alternative to remaining anonymous.

  • STATES WITHOUT LOTTERIES

Utah does not even allow social bets, according to the survey.

Other smaller cash prizes are also included.

  • HOW MUCH IS A POWERBALL TICKET?

Powerball tickets cost $2 per play.

Tickets are sold in 45 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Island.

  • MORE STATE DISTINCTIONS

North Dakota “is the only state where voters refused to authorize a state lottery, in part because the state already has so many other forms of gambling, including charity casinos,” the survey reports.

In South Dakota, you must be 18 to buy a lottery ticket and 21 to play a video lottery terminal.

In Arizona, for example, it is a misdemeanor to sell a lottery ticket to anyone under 18, but it is not against the law to give the minor a lottery ticket as a present.

  • ‘GOTTA PLAY EVERY DRAWING’

A source told the Seattle Times that with the new drawing comes a responsibility to play every time.

“You can’t skip one drawing to save a few bucks and then have your numbers come up. You’d kill yourself; you’ve gotta play every drawing,” they said.

  • CASH OPTION

A one-time, lump-sum payment that is equal to the cash in the Mega Millions jackpot prize pool.

  • ANNUITY OPTION

The Mega Millions annuity is paid out as one immediate payment followed by 29 annual payments. Each payment is 5% bigger than the previous one. This helps protect winners’ lifestyle and purchasing power in periods of inflation.

For a typical jackpot of $100 million, the initial payment would be about $1.5 million, and future annual payments would grow to about $6.2 million.

When the jackpot is $200 million, each payment is twice as big. When the jackpot is $50 million, each payment is half as big, etc.

  • WHAT HAPPENS IF YOU WIN THE JACKPOT?

The Mega Millions website describes the two options you have if you win the jackpot.
