THIS is the chilling final photograph of six-year-old JonBenet Ramsey hours before she was bludgeoned and strangled to death in her own home.
Her father John has released never-before-seen pictures of his daughter in a new TV show about the case which has never been solved.
A&E’s special Hunting JonBenet’s Killer: The Untold Story also features age-progression imagery by PhoJoe.com which shows what the former child beauty queen would look like if she was alive today aged 28.
In the last known photo of the little girl, she is seen smiling innocently on Christmas Eve 1996 before her lifeless body was found the next morning.
JonBenet was murdered at her home in Boulder, Colorado, as her parents and brother slept in their rooms.
Her body was found covered by a white blanket in the family’s basement hours after she had been reported missing to police on Christmas morning.
A nylon cord was wrapped around her neck while her wrists were bound above her head and her mouth was covered with duct tape.
KILLED WHILE HER FAMILY SLEPT
Dad John and mother Patsy, who were to be made suspects by police before being cleared years later, called the cops to report a kidnapping.
They had found a note demanding a $118,000 ransom for her return warning the family not to call the police.
Her brother Burke was later implicated by experts on another TV show, aired on CBS, sparking a $750million law suit which was eventually settled for undisclosed sum.
Burke strongly denies any involvement in JonBenet’s murder and he was cleared by DNA evidence in 2008.
Discussing the age-progression image, John Ramsey admits he cannot imagine his little girl growing old.
He said: “In my mind she’s still my 6-year-old little girl, that’s how I remember her.”
John, who also lost his oldest daughter in a car accident four years before JonBenet died, has re-married following the death of Patsy to cancer.
Despite the multiple tragedies in his life, the dedicated family man remains upbeat.
He said: “My kids are healthy and grandkids are healthy so you have to look at what’s good in your life and be thankful for it.”
John admits that he is still haunted by his daughter’s killing and how it has impacted his life.
He also spoke about himself and Patsy being cleared of their JonBenet’s murder 12 years after she was found dead and two years after his wife died of cancer.
John said: “I figure Patsy knew that from whatever vantage point she had in heaven,’ says John about his wife not being there for the news.
“And my mind frame was, OK, let’s get on with finding the killer.”
Who killed JonBenet?
After her death the family were immediately thought of as suspects by police, but JonBenét’s parents and brother Burke were cleared in 2008 by DNA evidence.
A jury voted in 1999 to charge John and Patsy Ramsey with child abuse resulting in the first-degree murder of their daughter – but the district attorney refused to sign the indictment.
JonBenét’s brother Burke has also been suspected of the youngster’s murder.
CBS’ show The Case of: JonBenét Ramsey showed famed forensic investigator Werner Spitz suggest Burke killed JonBenét with a flashlight.
He suggested the six-year-old took a slice of fruit from Burke’s late-night snack – prompting him to lash out with the nearby torch.
Sleuths investigating the death for the TV show claimed Burke had “a history of scatological problems”.
They cited the evidence of a housekeeper who said excrement the size of a grapefruit was once smeared on the young girl’s bed sheets.
And behavioural experts – who earlier suggested Burke could have killed his sister in a pique or rage after she nicked some of his midnight snack – said he had mental issues around the time.
Furthermore, a never-before-heard phone conversation was described in which JonBenet’s family are claimed to have said “What have you done?”.
Burke launched a lawsuit against the expert in response.
John Mark Karr admitting to the killing in 2008, but it soon became apparent that he had made a false confession.
Ollie Gray, a private investigator hired by the Ramseys, said he believed the killer was Michael Helgoth – a man whose family owned a junkyard on the outskirts of town.
On January 10, 2019, it was reported that a paedophile had admitted he killed JonBenét.
Gary Oliva, 54, is currently serving a 10-year sentence for child abuse images and has been a longtime suspect in the murder.
However, nobody has ever been charged with the six-year-old’s killing.
