EMMERDALE fans have found themselves backing Nate Robinson after he decided to abandon girlfriend Tracy Metcalfe and their young baby Frankie.
The farmer – who is played by actor Jurell Carter in the ITV soap – looks set to desert his family after the stress of their current lives came between them both.
Viewers know Nate is feeling guilty after breaking his foot stupidly and ruining a family day out.
But Tracy has now been left to do everything with him incapable of working or helping with the baby.
And tonight she lashed out when he put his recovery at risk to join her for a walk when she specifically asked him not to.
“I don’t care about your foot,” she raged.
“I don’t care about your guilt, I don’t care about whatever you’re going through right now because I have barely got enough energy to care for our daughter and she comes first – always.
“So please Nate, I’m begging you, just back the hell off yeah.”
At the end of the episode, Nate made his decision to give her some space.
Picking up the phone, he called a mystery number and revealed his plans to leave – albeit temporarily.
“Not so great, pretty rubbish really,” he said to the person on the other end.
“Look can I come and stay with you. For a while, I just have to leave. I can’t be here anymore.”
Some fans weren’t, however, surprised at his decision.
One wrote: “Normally I’d be saying the father should stay to try to sort things, but if Nate leaving stops Tracy’s incessant screeching then I’m all for it.”
A second said: “Why is Tracy being impossible? There’s literally nothing Nate can say or do to help. He asks how to help and gets a non-answer. Imagine his frustration!”
But one wrote: “Feel for Tracy on #Emmerdale, screams post natal depression.
“About time a soap covered this, as it affects so many women and it really is truly awful not knowing what is going on or how to admit that you’re struggling to cope.”
