This may be a student card, but it has some of the same desirable perks as a regular consumer credit card.
Competitive cash back rewards
The best student credit cards offer some type of rewards, but the Capital One SavorOne Student Cash Rewards Credit Card takes it to another level. Not only does it offer a high 3% cash back rate on bonus purchases, but it earns that rate in four different categories:
- Grocery stores
- Select streaming services
Unlike other rewards credit cards, there’s no cap on how much you can earn on bonus category purchases. Purchases that don’t fit into one of the bonus categories will earn an unlimited 1% cash back.
No annual fee
Student budgets are tight enough without extra fees. The Capital One SavorOne Student Cash Rewards Credit Card has no annual fee, so you won’t have to pay an extra maintenance fee just to keep your account open. (Of course, that doesn’t mean you’ll never have fees; if you carry a balance past your due date, you’ll be charged interest fees.)
The best part of no annual fee on a student card means you can leave your account open even after you leave school. Open accounts will continue to age over time, adding to your total credit history length, which is part of your credit score calculation.
No foreign transaction fee
As with other Capital One cards, the Capital One SavorOne Student Cash Rewards Credit Card doesn’t charge any foreign transaction fees. This means you can use your student card to make purchases while abroad without having to pay extra fees.
Additionally, some cards charge foreign transaction fees for any purchases in a foreign currency or that pass through a foreign bank, even if you make the purchase at home. With no foreign transaction fees at all, you won’t have to worry about your transactions no matter where you are.
