The family insider – who wished not to be named due to fear of retribution – admitted some of Rachael’s past “mistakes” are “wrong” but added the response has gotten out of control.

Following a week of tense social media scrutiny due to resurfaced photos in a viral TikTok video that show Rachael, 24, in “racist” costumes and liking controversial posts, the source confessed she is “not doing the best.”

“It’s taken a huge mental toll on the whole family. She’s getting a lot of death threats.

“Her parents have been contacted constantly because the TikTok videos posted their names publicly,” she said of Rachael’s mom and dad, Darrell and Kim.

The source continued: “As a collective unit, they’re getting a ton of hate. We tried our best for the longest time to keep all the hate away from Rachael.

“It got really hard when people started coming to her page because she had to mediate her Instagram comments and of course to do that, you have to be aware on what’s being said.”

Last week, Rachael disabled commenting on her Instagram and her mom deleted her account entirely.

One of the violent messages sent to the Matt James frontrunner that The Sun confirmed read the fan “hopes Rachael gets skin cancer and dies from tanning so much.”

“It’s devastating and has taken a huge mental toll on her. She won’t even watch herself on the show. She’s mentally drained and in a very bad place.

“Her mom is in a terrible mental place too. I know people won’t necessarily feel bad for her if they think she’s racist.

“But now it’s gotten to the point where she isn’t even paying for her actions. She’s paying for her friends actions and her friends of friends actions,” the insider explained.

The informant claimed one of the TikTok users who posted a video alleging Rachael is “racist” was sent a cease and desist letter as the family explores pursuing other legal options.

ABC did not respond to The Sun’s request for comment and have not publicly addressed the ongoing reaction to Rachael’s past.

However, following harsh bullying last year for Peter Weber’s group of ladies, the network launched an entire campaign spearheaded by Rachel Lindsay to stop online hate.

The show aired an emotional televised public service announcement in March 2020 and said they aim to “do better” in future seasons which has left some viewers wondering why the show has not yet stepped in to address current concerns.

Past photos of Georgia native Rachael were labeled as “offensive” when dug up this week as she can be seen wearing a Native American costume.

The ensemble included a beaded feathered headpiece and matching brown fringe dress.

She was also slammed by fans for 2018 photos of the contestant which show her attending a controversial “Old South” party.

The bash is described as an “antebellum plantation-themed ball” by the college fraternity that throws it, Kappa Alpha.

Kappa Alpha has been criticized as “racist” due to its embrace of Confederate General Robert E. Lee as its “spiritual leader.”

Through the ongoing backlash, the insider said Rachael has learned from her “ignorance” and will be coming forward with a statement soon.

“Rachael absolutely feels bad about going to the party. She wasn’t aware of the history because the version they throw today is marketed as an old school party, not a confederate celebration. But her ignorance is a wasted excuse at this point.

“Rachael plans to make a statement about this and then look into advocating for better education about the microaggressions disguised as ‘tradition’ regarding confederacy in southern schools.”
