If you haven't heard, we are holding a producers/open meeting regarding Seattle Community Media this Thursday.  Again, the meeting is scheduled for 7pm, Thursday, August 4th, here at Seattle Community Media.  We are located on the North Seattle Community College campus, 9600 College Way North.  We are located in the Education Building, which is one of two eastern most buildings on the campus, closest to I-5.  There will be signs up, but enter the Education building via the small plaza between the Education building and the Wellness Center.  Go right just past the elevator.  Walk through the double doors and you are there.  There will be signs up to help direct you to us.

As we anticipated, the Open Media platform is fairly complex and is not yet in place.  Having anticipated that it might take longer, we will discuss the status of the Open Media platform and the temporary solutions we have in place to operate as it continues to be configured.   We will also discuss when we will be accepting new programming, the opening of Studio B (the smaller studio) and scheduling time in Studio B, membership, gear check out and much, much more.

We’ve been calling this a “producer” meeting, but it is open to anyone interested in hearing what is happening at Seattle Community Media.



We will spend a little time showing you how to upload your show files.  If you can’t make the meeting there will be a written and video tutorial available at www.seattlecommunitymedia.org soon.



We will tour you through the new Seattle Community Media room and Studio B.


As we get closer to opening the doors of Seattle Community Media, we’d like to ask all of you visit www.seattlecommunitymedia.org and participate in the poll posted there.  The purpose of this poll is to help us set up hours of operation, studio time and it will help us with technical issues.  For instance, knowing what encoding programs will help us learn what codex work and which cause problems with the Open Media platform.  You do not have to participate in the poll, but it will help us make informed decisions.

Current Programming and


Please remember, our focus has been on setting up this new facility.  We think you’ll like what you see and the improvements we’ve made.  We’ve received some comments regarding the repeats repeating too often or scheduling specific shows.  We’ve worked to accommodate some of that specific scheduling when we’ve had time.  There are some shows that were not in the schedule we received from SCAN and appeared in areas marked TBA.  We’ve tried to add those as we’ve been notified about these.  We’ve also received concerns about the audio levels.  Typically all program files would have similar audio levels and this would not be a major issue, but we have discovered the program audio levels run from very quite to very loud.  We will be installing equipment to take care of the issue but it does entail taking the station off the air for about 10-minutes, or, if there is an issue, longer.  We will be making the fix soon.      

Again, if you know of someone who is not getting these emails and should be, please pass them along and be sure to encourage that person to send their email along to me.
